Sell-out shows at Hoxton so far. Still some tickets for Thursday night. The production suits this venue incredibly well. The atmosphere was great last night and the cast rose to the occasion. Because of the depth of the playing space at Hoxton we have been able to adjust some of the scenes and create vivid atmospheres. Malvolio being taunted by Feste was particularly moving last night. And Alexis Jayne Defoe has done amazingly well - taking over the role of Viola at incredibly short notice from Kristal Sisodia, who had to pull out of the production at The Space due to illness. The show has gone from strength to strength and I am looking forward to the rest of the run and the transfer to Middle Temple Hall.

What a venue! Today we got in to Hoxton Hall having left The Space behind - must say it was a pleasure to work at The Space - the management, volunteers (and bar staff in the Hubbub restaurant) were all consistently helpful and friendly. Massive thanks to Adam and Alex for all their encouragement. And with two sell out shows to finish off our run there, it has proved to be a good experience. So today was spent revisioning the set and lighting in a new space - Hoxton Hall. It is a magical place, sadly underused for theatre. Lizzy's set fits more naturally in here - and with three levels to act on and a billowing sail to project onto, it looks like the production will be a memorable one. |
