ANNOUNCING GULLIVER'S TRAVELS - A World Premiere
We are delighted to launch our 'New Musical - Summer Project' initiative to promote new musical theatre writing within the UK. Each June we will select and produce a new British musical, enabling the writers to realise the potential of the piece in it's most current state. Lead by a professional creative and production team with a cast of talented young performers full of enthusiasm and determination.
Gullivers Travels started it's life in 2008 at the iconic Minack Theatre in Cornwall. Since then it has undergone significant re-writes, including a workshop at The Royal Academy of Music and a further-revised version presented as a showcase performance at St Martin's Hall, Trafalgar Square in 2014. Chichester is now enabling and world-premiering its anticipated completion.
Thursday 22nd June, Friday 23rd June at 7:30, Saturday 24th June at 2:30 & 7:30. THE ALEXANDRA THEATRE, Belmont Street, Bognor Regis, PO21 1BL
Gulliver’s Travels is a new musical work encompassing all four parts of Jonathan Swift’s classic novel. From the tiny inhabitants of Lilliput and the giants of Brobdingnag to the flying Island of Laputa and the serene horses of Houyhnhnmland, the adventure-loving Gulliver sets off an epic journey that thrusts him on a path of self-discovery and transforms his view of the world. 350 years since Swift’s birth, Chris Chambers (Book & Lyrics) and Andy Rapps (Music) applaud and celebrate his satirical genius by bringing his most famous work to the stage - a story that has resonated profoundly through the centuries, and continues to inspire.
Produced by Andrew Wright
Direction by Jake Smith
Musical Direction by Edward Court
Choreography by James Berkery
Designed by Anna Reid
