Congratulations to cast and crew of A Midsummer Night's Dream which opened last night on Queen's Park Playground, Caterham-On-The-Hill. Elemental, to say the least, it hardly stopped raining but that didn't put anyone off and we held the attention of 75 audience members throughout.
Shakespeare's text came alive in this environment, with the rain and the wind battering the lovers lost in the wood and joining with the wood spirits, Oberon and Titania, their argument causing the "distemperature."
Thanks to Graham Mountain's remarkable sound design - the audience heard every word - combine this with a hardy British public and we had an event -a memorable day. Shakespeare in the rain has to be experienced.
